Support a Cause: Keep Poisonous Ash out of North Carolina!

Care2 Petitionsite Action Alert
action alert!
The recent spills of coal ash in North Carolina underscore just how dangerous these toxins really are. But the latest legislation on coal ash is a sham — it doesn't offer any real protection for the people of North Carolina. It's time our lawmakers know that our health comes before energy industry greed.

Coal ash is poisonous. And it's all over the state.

In fact, there are more than 14 coal ash sites around North Carolina, with 30 coal ash ponds. These sites pose a health risk to all of us, especially since they are all located dangerously close to our waterways.

For too long, North Carolina legislators have given sweetheart deals to the energy industry, putting our lives and livelihoods at risk from dangerous coal ash.

We've had just about enough of it — it's time for North Carolina lawmakers to put the people first!

The Governor's recent legislation doesn't go far enough to rein in Big Coal. Most of the coal ash sites aren't covered by the law, and it may allow the majority of this toxic ash to stay right where it is.

We don't need more industry giveaways. We need stronger laws.

Together, we can clean up North Carolina.

Tell North Carolina lawmakers: keep coal ash out of North Carolina!
