Summer is here, and between the sunny weather and lazy days, it can be hard to remember for some of our neighbors, the end of the school year means an even harder time keeping food on the table. Fight Childhood Hunger This Summer please share it helps!     Not many people realize that, for many kids, summer vacation can mean going hungry. According to the USDA, nearly 17 million children in the U.S. suffer from food insecurity - that's more than 1 in 5 kids in your community and across the country who may struggle to thrive and fall behind in school because they don't have enough to eat. Summer vacation should be a fun time for kids to relax and play, but for kids who rely on free and reduced-price meals it can mean three months without stable, nutritious meals. That means they may not have the energy to do what kids should do over the summer - play with their friends, have fun and just... be kids. Right now it's far too easy to forget about kids who struggle with hunger during the summer. We can't let it stay that way!
